Event Details

Box Hill mall will come alive for the 2016 Melbourne Chinese Moon Festival.
Organised by the Melbourne Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, the 2016 Festival marks the twenty-sixth year that the event has been held in Box Hill and it promises to be another vibrant celebration.
Traditionally celebrated on the fifteenth of the eighth lunar month, it is when the moon is at its brightest and roundest. The Chinese believe that the circular shape of the moon symbolises unity, and therefore family members will get together during this time to celebrate, eat mooncakes and light lanterns.
The Festival will host 60 market stalls, showcasing various cuisines, arts and crafts, cultural activities, mooncakes, lanterns and more! The main stage will also provide full day of entertainment – including a lion dancing performance at 11am to kick off the festivities.

Where: Main St and Market St (pedestrian mall), Box Hill

Patrons are encouraged to utilise public transport on the day as buses and trams are available near the event precinct.
Please use the PTV Journey Planner to plan your trip.

The event is supported by the Whitehorse City Council, Bupa, Porche Centre Doncaster, Central Equity, CBD Development, Optus Box Hill, WACO Investment Group, Box Hill Central, Box Hill Police and TVBA.
