3MBS Mozart Marathon

The 3MBS Mozart Marathon will be held at Hawthorn Arts Centre this February.

Australia’s largest classical chamber music event, the annual 3MBS music marathon is a highlight on the Melbourne musical calendar and a unique opportunity to engage deeply with a musical genius.

Across six sessions in one day, this hugely popular event will bring together many of Australia’s finest chamber and vocal musicians to perform some of Mozart's greatest masterpieces.

Highlights of the all day program include Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 8 A minor K 310, Piano Sonata No. 11 A major K 331, the iconic Clarinet Concerto, Oboe Quartet and a violin concerto, closing with Serenade No. 13 in G major, K 525.

Musicians include Jeffrey Crellin, Paul Dean, Andrew Goodwin, Australian Piano Quartet, Stefan Cassomenos, Daniel de Borah, Goldner String Quartet, Wilma Smith, Ian Munro, Arcadia Quintet, Timothy Young, Curt Thompson, Elyane Laussade, Kathryn Selby, David Griffiths, Rebecca Chan, Svetlana Bogosavljevic, Kristian Chong, Tristan Lee and Sutherland Trio.

The 3MBS Mozart Marathon follows the immensely popular Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Mendelssohn marathons of previous years.

All artists are donating their services to support 3MBS Fine Music, Melbourne’s only fine music radio station.  3MBS is unique in its support of local musicians and broadcasts to over 330,000 listeners every month.  The annual 3MBS Marathon is a key fundraising event that brings together Melbourne’s classical music community in their appreciation of a great composer.

Ticket buyers can choose a premium all-day pass (which includes full catering across the day) a standard all-day pass, or individual tickets to each session.  The performances will take place across six sessions, with one-hour breaks for lunch and dinner and shorter breaks between sessions.  Free Sunday parking is available at the rear of the Hawthorn Arts Centre.
