The Australian wine industry is the world’s fifth largest exporter of wine. In a historically male dominated industry there has been a quiet but determined surge of female wine makers producing some of the best wines in Australia, sold both domestically and internationally.
Tar & Roses wines are lovingly made using fruit grown in Heathcote, Strathbogie Ranges, Alpine Valley, King Valley and Priorat, Spain. Narelle King, a former accountant swapped number counting for grape crushing in 2001 when she began her journey as a winemaker. She was offered a position at Mitchelton winery and it was here she met Don Lewis where a strong friendship and fantastic working relationship was forged. The two went on to establish Tar & Roses.
