“Hong Kong Philharmonic shines in Mahler 3’s forceful and intimate episodes under baton of Jaap van Zweden” – Dirk Newton, South China Morning Post, December 2016

“the cast… is a group of singers that would be very difficult to bring together in an opera house – even at the Met… an orchestra that’s as good as you’ll find in most European opera houses.” – Ashutosh Khandekar, Opera Now, Dec 2016

“…evidence of Van Zweden’s success in dramatically raising standards at Hong Kong” – Neil Fisher, The Times, Nov 2016

“Mr van Zweden, 55, has developed a reputation for giving exacting and feisty performances. Not surprisingly, those qualities bristled throughout the brawny.” – Anthony Tommasini, New York Times, Nov 2016

“The young Chinese violinist wowed the bravo-spouting audience with his effortless virtuosity, clarity and command… it was Ning that stole the show.” – Time Out

“…Yet Lam, working with a carefully constructed minimum of material, shapes his musical world with dreamy individuality.” – Evening Standard
