Alternative Walking Tours is Proud to Present;
Our Bohemian Partnership with authors Associate Professors Dr Tony Moore & John Arnold, cultural historians based at Monash University
- From Saturday 4th February - 18th February
Retracing the steps of Marcus Clarke, a young Barry Humphries, Germaine Greer and Vali Myers, you’ll encounter the studio of impressionist painter Tom Roberts, Mikra Mora’s chic café, the white-brick apartment of modernist artists Albert Tucker and Joy Hester, and scenes in Melbourne counter-cultural music history.
The character of the area has changed but scenes are still played out and stand as testament to an older, secret, a bohemian world. Travelling through bohemia past and present, from the dandies, goths, decadents and dilettantes of the nineteenth century to the hippies, hip hop artists and hipsters of recent decades.
