'I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir' said Alice, 'because I'm not myself, you see.'

In second self, Rubiks Collective takes a journey to the other side of the looking glass, where the boundaries between the public and private, the sane and the mad, the truth and the mask melt away. Who are you, and who do you want to be?

A study of how we understand ourselves and others, second self takes us from the golden age of Hollywood to notorious psychological experiments as identities multiply, transform, evolve, seduce and deceive. Special guest mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean joins Rubiks for this deliriously alluring program, featuring the Australian premieres of works by Jacob TV, David Bird, Missy Mazzoli and Andy Akiho.

Jacob TV – Able to Be (2005) *Australian Premiere
Missy Mazzoli - A Thousand Tongues (2009) *Australian Premiere
Donnacha Dennehy – Stainless Staining (2007)
David Bird- Series Imposture (2013) * Australian Premiere
