On the Labour Day long weekend, the Winemakers of Rutherglen are hosting their annual food and wine festival – Tastes of Rutherglen.
Tastes of Rutherglen is all about perfectly matched (and delicious) food and wine; making it the ultimate gourmet weekend away that showcases the best of North East Victoria.
Rutherglen is home to a range of distinctive and alternative varietals, including some very bold Durifs (perfect for red wine lovers) and Marsanne (for those who prefer a white). But what Rutherglen is most famous for is its fortified wines – a Rutherglen Muscat is regarded as one of the best in the world and for something different can be mixed to make a variety of refreshing Muscat cocktails. But, don't worry, you'll still find most traditional varietals (Shiraz, Chardonnay, Rose, Sauv Blanc, etc.) along with some of Australia's best sparkling reds.
Aside from the gourmet wine and delicious food options, think...pulled pork shoulder carnitas with pickled peach, avocado and smoked paprika and slow-roasted lamb carved onto a bed of almond and mint cous cous, there is also plenty of kid-friendly activities, live music, entertainment and a range of masterclasses, workshops, tours and talks over the entire weekend.
Ticket covers the two days with scheduled shuttle buses running both days providing unlimited access to all 19 wineries on three different routes.
Shuttle bus tickets are $27 per day and there is also the option of regional buses for those from nearby major regional towns.
A family-friendly, progressive feast featuring the region’s best food & wine that is not to be missed!
