Description

Start at Punt Road Winery a friendly and welcoming award-winning winery owned by the Napoleone Family that have been Orchardists in the Yarra Valley since the 1940s. They planted their first vineyards in 1983 and have since become highly regarded for their Yarra Valley Punt Road label. Next, continue toward Cold Stream hills Winery founded by renowned wine writer James Halliday in 1985. Follow this with the Dominique Portet Winery, a centuries-old wine making family. The Portet family holds possibly an unmatched record in the Australian wine industry. Enjoy a lunch here, a delicious Mediterranean platter of local produce and fresh crunchy bread with a bottle of wine. After lunch, you may travel toward Maddens Rise Winery, where the philosophy is to maintain, preserve and where possible and appropriate ecologically, enhance the natural vineyard environment by embracing the use of ‘biological’ farming practices. Next we visit Greenstone Winery, one of Yarra Valley's most progressive wineries with award-winning wines sold both nationally and in key markets around the world. Here, enjoy a cheese platter and complementary wines. After this we make our way back home across Kangaroo Ground and Christmas Hills. Finally, head back to Melbourne along the Yarra Valley Hinterland through Warrandyte or Kangaroo Ground. These wineries are just a guideline and you are welcome to choose your own. Decide how many wineries you'd like to visit in the 6 hours of allotted time; no need to feel rushed if you are enjoying talking and tasting at a particular winery. It's all about relaxing and having a good time. However, lunch is pre-booked and must be made on time.
