Gallery Gabrielle Pizzi showcases contemporary Australian Aboriginal artwork and has been doing so since 1983. Quality work from creative and original city-based artists can be found here ranging from installation artists, to painters, to photographers, to video artists. Some of the represented artists include Julie Gough, Leah King-Smith, Christian Thompson, Alick Tipoti and Ben McKeown, while some of the areas and art centres they come from are Balgo Hills, Tjala Arts, Papunya Tula Artists, Maningrida, Warmun Art Centre, Mimili Maku Arts and Kaltjiti Arts.
The gallery has sold to many leading national and international collections including The National Gallery of Australia and Aboriginal Art Museum as well as various Australian state and regional public galleries. Reputable for having rocketed careers of budding artists in the past, Gabrielle Prizzi is also reputable for her integrity and her non-exploitative ethos, ensuring that all artists are supported and paid. Having held exhibits all over the globe, Prizzi’s major goal is for Aboriginal art to become recognised as powerful, contemporary art.
