Hawthorn Football Clubは非常に人気があり、ファンから大きな支持を受けています。

クラブは、Hawthorne Hotelでの会議で1873年に設立されたと信じられていましたが、これは事実ではありません。実際には、地域には常にサッカーチームが代表されてきましたが、今日のホーソーンクラブではありません。

かつては同じ名前のもう2つのクラブ、ホーソーンフットボールクラブがありましたが、最新のクラブは1893年に設立され、プレーするグラウンドがありませんでした。壮観な試合は、メルボルン・クリケット・グラウンドとランセストンのヨークパークで行われています。

クラブの色とデザインは過去に何度か変わっていますが、選手は1950年に初めて使用された茶色と金の縦ストライプのために今では認識されています。
