Passengers begin their morning at Pullman Melbourne on the Park, where the friendly team welcomes them 1.5 hours before sunrise. From there, they are transported to the launch site, where the crew may invite them to assist with balloon inflation – a behind-the-scenes moment that sets the tone for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. As the balloon lifts off, passengers drift peacefully over Melbourne’s patchwork of parks, gardens, and awakening city streets. Flights may pass above world-famous landmarks such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Federation Square, and Albert Park, home of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. Pilots skillfully use winds at different altitudes to guide the balloon to a landing site. Balloons drift with the wind, so passengers will touch down at a different location than where you took of. The ground crew follows and meets the balloon at the landing site. After landing, passengers can assist with packing the balloon – a fascinating process as the massive balloon compresses into a surprisingly small size. The crew then transports passengers back to Pullman Melbourne on the Park, where inflight GoPro photos are uploaded to the Global Ballooning app for instant download and sharing.
