The Shalimar Indian restaurant in Bay Street Brighton is one of the oldest restaurants in Bay Street having been there for over 30 years.I find Indian restaurants fall into one of three categories, they are either poor, food court quality or excellent and this one is excellent. The menu is extensive and the spicing can be tailored for every palate they actually ask you when taking your order. There is a large window at one end where you can see the chef expertly cooking the meats and breads in the huge Tandoor ovens that produce some of the most mouth-watering Tandoori food I have tasted; Tandoori Cauliflower is a revelation for this confirmed carnivore. The Tandoori lamb cutlets and various starters will keep you going back on a regular basis.
There is a reason this restaurant has been here so long and that's because it is excellent.
