There is nothing more exhilarating than riding a horse on an exquisite white sand beach with the wind in your hair. And when you can enjoy the freedom of horse riding whilst enjoying spectacular scenery and visiting unbeatable sights, the experience becomes even more special. Gunnamatta Trail Rides give you the opportunity to ride along the open St Andrews Ocean Beach on an exciting two-hour trail along the southern part of the Mornington Peninsula.
The area, which is just an hour's drive from Melbourne, has a distinctly Mediterranean flavour, with olive groves and rolling hills as far as the eye can see. Hidden amongst them are wonderful wineries just waiting to be discovered. Then, there's the striking coastline with its rugged coastal cliffs, sandy bays and striking rock formations. And dotted along the coast are charming seaside towns that are a joy to explore.
Trot along the beach or at the water's edge, watching surfers enjoying the crashing waves. If you're lucky, you may even spot a whale! You can also embark on a horseback adventure into the bush during the day or at twilight - and if you have the kids with you, they can learn how to horse ride, or enjoy pony rides and other fun activity programmes.
If you prefer, you can enjoy a private horse ride - just make sure to book early for this though.
