Melbourne Zoo
Melbourne Zoo displays more than 250 wildlife species and is situated only 4km from the city journey through a world of wildlife and discover the wonders of nature as you explore the award-winning Melbourne Zoo. There’s always something new to enjoy. Stroll through the lush Asian and African rainforests, where tigers roam and monkeys swing from tree to tree. Then take the time to stop and see eye to eye with Orangutans in their special elevated exhibit.
Explore the Trail of the Elephants and the unique native wildlife in the Australian bush setting. Kids can find out what it’s like to be a zoo keeper, vet, researcher or horticulturalist at Keeper Kids, a space designed to encourage exploration and immersion play for kids. Visitors will soon be able to go wild at Melbourne Zoo with a new interactive exhibit Growing Wild, opening on September 22. Aimed at children aged 3-8 years of age, Growing Wild will be filled with animals, sculptures and tunnels for kids to play in.
Melbourne Zoo is open every day of the year from 9am to 5pm during summer, the Zoo is open late on selected evenings for Zoo Twilights concerts, and the Roar ‘n Snore overnight camps with after-dark guided tours provide an opportunity for a very different Zoo experience.
As the Zoo aims to connect people and wildlife, there are also a series of close-up and behind the scenes experiences, with the chance to meet Keepers and find out more about the wildlife they look after.
