Melbourne Aquarium

Melbourne

The Melbourne Aquarium lets you dive into the world of Australia’s colourful sea population without even getting your feet wet. The aquarium mostly displays creatures from the southern Indian Ocean, the Bass Straight and the Tasman Sea, but also animals from rock pools and mangrove habitats.

In a fibreglass tunnel you can come nose-to-nose with sharks, stingrays, octopuses and a multitude of colourful fish. An Antarctic exhibit features Gentoo and King Penguins. There is also a colourful coral atoll with numerous tropical animals. To take in all of the main attractions and see most of the many small aquariums, plan at least two hours for your visit.

The Aquarium is only a short stroll from the Southern Cross Railway Station or if you’re approaching from Southbank, just across the bridge from the Crown Casino.
