Anzac day is an important day for all Australians.
Queenscliff with its rich military history prides itself on commemorating the day with a number of services.
The dawn service held upon the cliff top at Shortland’s Bluff at the rear of the fort is a most solemn but memorable experience, and one that all are welcome to. The service commences at 5.45am, with a ’Wreath at Sea’ being laid by the Queenscliff Harbour via boat at approx. 6.30am.
We invite everyone to return for breakfast which will be available at a number of Queenscliff Harbour restaurants from 7am.
Following breakfast – the Fort Queenscliff Anzac day Service parade assembly commences at 10.15 at the Queenscliff Post Office, led by the Geelong Highland Pipe Band, it marches along Hesse Street and into the Fort. The service commences at 11am on the Green inside Fort Queenscliff. The Roulettes traditionally do a fly over during this service.
For those with a boat, why not spend the night in the harbour and take part in the services and commemorations on ANZAC day.
