The international Lift-Off Film Festival will be returning this November and December to celebrate the very best that the independent film community has to offer in Australia and the rest of the world! The Lift-Off Global Network is committed to promoting global indie film, connecting filmmakers from all around the world, and nurturing the creative talent of their ever-growing community.
The Programme:
Feature film, 0,03 seconds (dir. Suzanne Raes) is the story of five swimmers and their coaches who are all working tirelessly to prepare for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016. Success and failure in Rio could spell the end of their swimming careers, the most important thing is the battle against themselves to improve.
Hourglass (dir. Fraser Pemberton) is a short-film about a woman plagued by the memory of her mother’s suicide, who attempts to reconnect with her estranged father after meeting a cryptic stranger one evening who incites her to confront the past before time runs out.
Little Joe (dir. Ned Donohoe) is a documentary portrait where a misfit country kid recalls coming of age in Australia’s emergent rave scene. Joe’s transition from ‘party drugs’ to decades of addiction doesn’t temper fond and vivid memories of the infamous ‘Melbourne Underground’ of the early 1990s.
