Hundreds of Beach Patrol and Love Our Street volunteers will be in full force on Saturday 8th October as they plan to clean over 80 km of the whole of the CBD zone of more than 2000 kg of single-use disposable plastic litter.
Since its inception in 2018, Spring Clean The City, as an advocate for the container deposit scheme, has collected thousands of bags of rubbish including 4351 plastic drink bottles, 3427 metal drink cans and 2599 glass drink bottles, weighing more than 5582kg.
From drink containers, cups, lids and straws, volunteers will dive into every street and laneway in Melbourne’s CBD on 8th October, to collect and sort the tsunami of plastic rubbish scattered around the city. This should be disposed of more sensibly and not end up washing down the Yarra River.
