Located in the region of Yarra Valley, Tarrawarra Museum of Art operates as a not-for-profit institution and its main focus is to present Australian modern art from 1950's onward.
Tarrawarra Museum of Art is the first privately funded museum that contributed to significant major exhibitions and impressive collections of contemporary art.
It's owners Eva and Marc Besen are art enthusiasts and have collected specific pieces of art since the 1950s. In 2005, Allan Powell won the Victorian Premiers Design Award for his unique design of the amazing Tarrawarra Museum of Art as his vision for a new museum in the Yarra Valley became a reality.
With perfect harmonious combination of fine arts, architecture and the Yarra Valley, this museum provides an opportunity to experience unique and dynamic exhibitions from the Australian art collections.
Famous exhibitions include the impressive artist Michelle Ussher: Yellow Eyes Burn and Return, and the well-known Danie Mellor: Exotic Lies Sacred Ties.
